Abstract: Foreseeably, coal remains one of the main energy sources in the global economy. Huge amounts of hazardous coal mining wastes, coal slack may be converted to useable fuel. Producing high-strength fuel pellets from coal slack using a biomass binder presents an objective. Experimental research into combining coal wastes with wheat bran binder using products’ differential thermal analysis was undertaken. Optimum process parameters of pellet moulding were determined: mixture moisture content 16–19 wt % and wheat bran dry fraction 4–20 wt % at 120–160 °C under the pressure of 75–300 MPa. Pilot-scale implementation of the method was realized meeting moulded fuel standards.
