Abstract: Integrating phase change material (PCM) and sky radiative cooling (SRC) in roofs is an effective way to reduce building energy use. However, the standalone application of either technology may lead to certain challenges, including PCM's slow heat release and the mismatch between SRC's cooling capacity and building cooling loads. To address these challenges, this study proposes a delignified wood-based roofing system integrated with PCM and SRC (DIPCM-SRC roof), aiming to enhance the stability of cooling performance and mitigate the temporal misalignment between cooling capacity and cooling loads through the synergistic effects of SRC and PCM. Under typical summer conditions, the DIPCM-SRC roof reduced peak temperatures by 7.4 °C (exterior surface), 1.6 °C (interior surface), and 0.8 °C (indoor air), while minimizing temperature fluctuations across roof layers and indoor spaces. This system significantly reduces the indoor cooling load, achieving a 24-h average reduction rate of 156.93 % compared to the control group. Comparative experiments on two cases further confirmed that the synergy between SRC and PCM effectively enhances the thermal performance of the building envelope. The DIPCM-SRC roof holds significant potential for improving thermal comfort, reducing indoor cooling loads, and lowering the carbon emissions associated with building operations.
