Abstract: This paper provides a foundation for understanding the importance of shared system of care definitions that encourage and support family involvement at every level of the system's development and implementation. The author articulates the necessity of family involvement in system of care efforts to assure effectiveness and sustainability. In addition to presenting a general overview of family involvement in system of care initiatives, the author further states the necessity of clarifying definitions and expectations of real-life family involvement for all stakeholders.
