Abstract:
This paper analyzes the spectral mismatch in PV technologies for vertical façades. BIPV systems work under different boundary conditions than conventional PV systems. Geometric position and orientations of the PV systems in vertical façades and the albedo may result in different spectral mismatch effects than those predicted by the usual models available. This work presents a new model for computing the spectral mismatch factor in the case of vertical façades for different PV technologies (m-Si, a-Si, CdTe, and CIGS). Massive spectral computation, with SMARTS model, for twelve different façade orientations has been used in the development of the model. Comparisons on a monthly basis with usual models have shown the different spectral impact for the case of vertical façades.
