Abstract: Corrosion is a significant cause of degradation in silicon photovoltaic modules. This paper is based on the specific location where corrosion occurs and explains the possible causes of corrosion occurrence from both macro and micro perspectives. After determining the susceptibility to metal oxidation, metallization corrosion, impurity ion ingress and layout design, potential solutions to reduce environmental corrosion were explored from the two major manufacturing ends of cell manufacturing and component packaging, with the aim of developing photovoltaic components with high reliability and excellent weathering resistance. This also provides a theoretical basis for optimizing the pattern design of high-efficiency photovoltaic components, extending their lifetime and reducing the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE).
