New quality productive forces, urban-rural integration and industrial chain resilience

Jun Cui and Desheng Du

International Review of Economics & Finance, 2025, vol. 102, issue C

Abstract: This study investigates the influence of new quality productive forces on the resilience of industrial chain. Utilizing a dataset comprising 31 provinces in China from 2012 to 2022, the findings indicate that new quality productive forces significantly enhance industrial chain resilience. The robustness of this relationship is confirmed through a series of tests. Mechanism analysis reveals that new quality productive forces contribute to improving industrial chain resilience by fostering urban-rural integration. Further examination indicates that government intervention mitigates the effect of new quality productive forces on industrial chain resilience. Heterogeneity analysis demonstrates that this relationship is particularly pronounced in the southeastern region of the Hu Huanyong Line and in areas with a higher concentration of secondary industries.
