Blended learning: impacts on the student experience

Elliott A. Lancaster

Chapter 5 in Digital Learning in Higher Education, 2022, pp 46-56 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter explores the tools and techniques deployed across educational institutions in the UK, focusing on the impact on student satisfaction. Findings expressed are based on cross-sector experiential research. Areas of presented exploration start with the immediate impact on students. This includes demographical representation and relevant measures to overcome digital poverty. A range of barriers that need to be overcome are identified, in order to help students succeed. The platform of student-staff partnership is critiqued, as a way to demonstrate the importance on deeply embedded collaborative arrangements. The Six Principles of Pedagogical Progress outlined provide a supportive framework, aimed at developing these educational activities with student satisfaction as a pivotal area of concern.
