Health and safety

Gordon Anderson (), Douglas Brodie () and Joellen Riley ()

Chapter 10 in Employment Law for a Brave New World, 2025, pp 162-181 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter examines emerging issues in the realm of health and safety. The complexities thrown up in the fissured workplace are addressed, and the resulting need for legislative solutions is also discussed. The chapter also explores the implications that flow from society as a whole displaying far greater concern for the wellbeing of citizens and their mental health in particular. The chapter goes on to discuss the legislative reforms that are required as a result of the significant increase in psychosocial harms in the workplace. The chapter also assesses the consequences that the post-pandemic increase in working from home will have for employment law.
