Chapter Chapter 28 in Case Studies on Nonprofit Resilience Management, 2025, pp 228-237 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
JCC Association of North America® demonstrated meaningful value to its network of 172 Jewish Community Centers during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic by connecting them to each other through a shared sense of mission and purpose. Its strategies included: 1) providing opportunities to gather virtually; 2) data collection, analysis, and dissemination; and 3) a program of instruction, training, and learning to help agencies navigate the crisis and become stronger for it. This study showcases how a crisis, while not something one wishes for, is a terrible thing to waste. It is an opportunity to reframe relationships, build cache, and ultimately create unity in a movement that can otherwise feel siloed and disparate.
