Abstract:
Emotion AI, also known as affective computing, is a branch of artificial intelligence concerned with enabling machines to recognise, interpret, and simulate human emotions. By combining insights from neuroscience, psychology, and computer science, emotion AI employs modalities such as facial expression analysis, speech and text processing, and physiological signal monitoring to understand emotional states. It is increasingly applied in healthcare, education, and neurodiversity, helping individuals to better understand and communicate emotions. Emotion AI enhances communication between humans and machines, promoting inclusivity and deeper emotional understanding in both assistive and interactive systems.
