Abstract: Metacognition describes our ability to think about our own thinking and can be measured in a range of ways, including metacognitive bias (how over/underconfident someone is) or metacognitive sensitivity (how well judgements track task performance). The prefrontal cortex is strongly associated with metacognition. In the context of business and leadership, research has mainly focused on entrepreneurial metacognition, which has been linked to business outcomes. Metacognitive abilities can also improve teamwork and are therefore an essential consideration for individuals in a leadership position.
