The Effect of Financial Management of Public Institutions and Their Debt Status on Life Satisfaction of Individuals

Abstract: Today, fast changing economic balances and social life movements force individuals to make financial management plans. Here, the relationship between financial management and borrowing is among the important factors affecting life satisfaction in individuals. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the effect of financial management behavior and attitudes on borrowing on life satisfaction. This research, designed in scanning model, was carried out with 425 students studying in EskiÅŸehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in 2019-2020. In the research, demographic information form (gender, grade level, income level variables) and three scales were used as data collection tool. In the collection of research data, life satisfaction scale, financial management behavior scale, attitude scale regarding borrowing were used. The analysis of the research data was carried out with the SPSS24 data analysis program. As a result of the research, it was observed that women's financial management behaviors and attitude points towards borrowing were higher. Students with high income have higher income levels, attitudes towards life satisfaction, financial management behaviors and borrowing. In addition, it led to the conclusion that financial management behaviors increase the life satisfaction of the participants and attitudes towards borrowing have a life-reducing effect.
