An Alternative Solution for The Global Logistics Crisis: Türkiye as The Logistics Center of Eurasia

Abstract: At the beginning of the search for solutions to the global competition and global crises that have arisen as a result of globalization, ways to increase international trade are sought through the logistics sector. For this purpose, competitive countries have given priority to the establishment of an advanced transportation network. The prerequisite for an advanced international transportation network is creating an effective and efficient logistics management and transportation corridor. Türkiye is central in most of these corridors because it acts as a bridge connecting Asia and Europe. In addition, it is the only logistics country that provides direct access to any place in the world with its feature of being a global logistics center beyond the continents of Europe, Asia, Eurasia, and Africa by being located at the intersection of almost all continents in the world. In this respect, Türkiye has the potential to be the most important logistics center in Eurasia, as it is located at the intersection and junction point of Asia and Europe, especially the Eurasian continent. The study was designed as descriptive research. The best answer to the search for solutions to the global competition that has emerged in addition to the increasing international trade volume and production power is the creation of logistics centers. Türkiye has a central position in logistics projects such as the revitalization of the historical Silk Road, TRACECA, and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway projects, which were brought to life as a result of the increase in global competition and the global crisis. Considering its key position in these projects, Türkiye should show that it is the country with the shortest route between Eurasia and Asia by developing both its railway and highway infrastructure. It should be supported with policies that will strengthen its position in projects developed between the two continents. This study reveals Türkiye’s potential to become the logistics center of the Eurasian region.
