Abstract:
"Long-term-unemployed persons often face difficulties to find a new job which is also due to firms willingness to consider them for the recruiting process. One third of our questioned firms answered that they would give long-term-unemployed a chance, while 39 percent would only regard unemployed persons if they were unemployed for no longer than a year and 16 percent would not consider unemployed persons at all. Nevertheless long-term-unemployed are rated rather positive concerning their labour market abilities: About one half of firms that are willing to give them a chance rate their motivation to work and their reliability as good or very good. Our results show further, that having experiences with long-term-unemployed highly influences firms performance appraisal." (Author's abstract, IAB-Doku) ((en))
