Abstract:
This case study highlights the business evolution of the famous Rasagola of Odisha which is strongly positioned as the Bikalananda Kar Rasagola. Bikalananda Kar, the founder of the business has added uniqueness to his Rasagola which made it a preferred choice among its customers. The effort to building the brand among the competitors has also been put forth. The strategy to connect with the customers in terms of the product, its raw material and hygienic preparation, price, continuous innovation, adopting various technologies, marketing communication are also highlighted. This case also shed light on the essential qualities of an entrepreneur by illustrating the entrepreneurial journey of Mr. Kar. Values are the foundation of a family business. In a family business, the effective successors play a vital role in taking forward a successful business. Effort has also been taken to illustrate the endeavours of the successors towards adding the values to their family business and to carry the legacy of the founder. This case will enable the students to understand the leadership aspects of an entrepreneur, to evaluate the marketing mix in the entire journey of the business and also to understand the impact of effective transition of leadership in a business.
