Beyond survival: optimising microenterprise success in the Indian market

Abstract: This study delves deeply into understanding what drives the performance of microenterprises in India. It uses a mix of two theories, the practice-based view and the finance-based theory, to analyse how financial, social, technological, and market resources, along with government support, affect these businesses. The findings highlight the crucial role of access to finance, social connections, technology adoption, and market access in shaping the success of microenterprises. Government support also plays a significant part in boosting the impact of these resources on business performance. The study's statistical models show that these factors explain a large portion of the variations we see in how well microenterprises do. The research offers practical insights for policymakers, financial institutions, and microenterprise owners on how to support growth and sustainability.
