Exploring green FinTech innovation as a promising area for future research: a detailed analysis of the intersection between green finance and FinTech using bibliometric methods

Abstract: This prospective study aims to describe the progress of FinTech and green finance as research areas through a bibliometric analysis. The Scopus database revealed 2,583 articles about FinTech and 2,707 articles about green finance, with a focus on the period from 2014 to 2024. The study uses bibliometric analysis with VosViewer and Biblioshiny to identify the main fields and productivity of FinTech and green finance research. Similarly to other disciplines, which present four analytical results alongside the financial environment's status, the subject considers its potential and concerns. Performing a bibliometric analysis reveals a shift in the number of publications annually from FinTech to green finance and green innovation. China leads the list of countries with the highest number of publications, followed by the USA and the UK in third place.
