Abstract:
A simple mathematical model of a satellite town is presented in this paper. It is shown that the model contains the basic features of a satellite New Town as well as of a satellite Residential Town. The characteristics of commuter travel in a satellite Residential Town are investigated, and the size of the Central Area and of the satellite town, the distance traveled per unit area, and the average distance traveled, are evaluated. For an initial sample set of data, numerical results are presented and discussed.
