Abstract: When the theologian and jurist Mihai-Iulian Necula was admitted to the Doctoral School of the Faculty of Law within the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iaşi, I considered his approach as a scientific challenge. The Romanian society had on the public agenda discussions related to the role and place of religion in the democratic context, such as the way in which it can be integrated in the curricula for pre-university studies. Given the professional profile, I proposed that in the doctoral studies he elaborate a thesis to present the protection of religious values through criminal legal norms. (Prof. Univ.
