Abstract: The aim of this pilot study was to investigate spinal health among young karate practitioners from northeastern Romania, focusing on thoracic kyphosis, lumbar lordosis, trunk rotation, and postural deviations of the shoulders and pelvis. Utilizing a cross-sectional design and scientifically validated methods, the study identified potential postural asymmetries. The analysis showed that, while significant structural deformities were not present, several deviations appeared as non-structural scoliotic attitudes, characterized by minor trunk rotations and asymmetries in the shoulders and pelvis, which indicate a thoracolumbar scoliotic posture in the majority of cases. These results suggest that a corrective exercise plan is necessary to effectively address these subtle deviations. We propose the integration of a customized karate exercise program aimed at optimizing postural control and preventing the progression of asymmetries, thereby promoting spinal health among youth. The implications of this study underscore the importance of continuous monitoring of young athletes and suggest directions for future research focusing on the long-term effects of martial arts training on postural alignment.
