Novosibirsk City’s innovation system: features and further development

Abstract: The paper discusses the issues concerning regional innovation systems (RIS), their structures, competitiveness factors and levels of their development. The paper describes and compares the characteristics of different RIS in Russian regions. The paper also assesses the innovation system in the Novosibirsk Oblast. The authors analyze the environment and an internal situation in the high-tech companies operating in Novosibirsk City and identify the key factors which make their operation successful. The authors discuss the challenges concerning the RIS in Novosibirsk and offer the instruments to improve its competitiveness.
