Abstract:
The paper considers the agricultural development in Siberia over long time horizon. We used the archival data of the agricultural censuses for Siberia of 1917 and 1920, current statistics and preliminary data of the Russian Agricultural Census 2006, and could show the positive and destructive periods in the development of agriculture in Siberia. Our special focus was on the period of the 1990th reforms when Siberian communities had suffered the greatest damage ever seen in the history of this sector. We also formulated the problems of rural communities at present and quantify them.
