Abstract: As we release our Summer Global Economic Outlook, the Paris Olympics is in full swing. And if ever the Olympic message of building 'a peaceful and better world in the Olympic Spirit … and to promote tolerance and understanding in these increasingly troubled times in which we live, to make our world a more peaceful place' were needed, it is now. There appears to be no end in sight to the attritional Russia-Ukraine conflict, while in Gaza, Israel continues its campaign against Hamas. Even in France itself, we have seen political turmoil, not to mention the 'massive attack aimed at paralysing the [French high-speed railway] network' reported by SNCF. This year of elections is heightening the sense of global turmoil.
