Familiarity mediates equitable social associations in guppies

Abstract:
Fish can form social relationships that are balanced between individuals. Many animal societies are characterized by social relationships that are commonly balanced between individuals. In some fish species, individuals preferentially interact with specific individuals of the group, but there is no clear evidence whether these preferences are also balanced between individuals. In a social fish, the guppy, we found that, after a period of familiarization, females form social relationships that are balanced between individuals.
