Abstract: The population is the general premises of the existence, of the dynamics and structure of the employment factor; it is the labor market support, the employed persons. Therefore the analysis and forecasts on the development of the population are very important. Our paper presents the trends of the world population and its projections for the period 1950-2050. Based on the levels, structure and trends of Earth`s population (in general, on continents and on countries), we decided to point out the dynamics of the population that emerges within the demographic processes in Romania.
