Abstract: The development of the Romanian agriculture also depends on the development of a new type of village economy that requires in addition to the agricultural development the development of the non-agricultural activities, the development of industry, services and infrastructure in the rural areas. Starting from the realities of the Romanian village, the paper presents the elements necessary to develop a modern rural economy in Romania.
