Abstract: The tourism activity is considered by most economists, and not only, as an activity that can contribute to the development and prosperity of the areas with tourism potential. To make the most of the opportunities offered by tourism, it is necessary that it should be a qualitative one that being achieved only through trained staff with excellent skills and competencies. The increase of competencies, knowledge and skills through training programs can improve the organization's position on a market with high competition as the services sector is. This paper examines, through quantitative research, the employers' perceptions on the training offer, the necessary skills and abilities for those who want to start or develop a career in this field in Braila and Constanta counties.
