Abstract: Currently, knowledge and concern for reducing the budget deficit are still of great importance, especially as Romania is facing great difficulties in economic developments. This paper aims to provide an overview of the budget deficit in the European Union and in Romania. At the same time, this paper makes a brief assessment of the situation in which our country is in this period.
