Abstract: Abstract Since ENRON collapsed in the autumn of 2001, managers have been confronted with the dark side of information use: hiding corporate losses, lying about expenses and profits, using insider information for cashing in on stocks, falsifying the business reality of companies to promote stock prices. For managers, these abuses of information use can lower and even ruin company business performance. Witness the collapse or crippling of a number of US and global companies—Worldcom, Global Crossing, Arthur Andersen and others.
