Timing and Innovation: Explicit Trade-offs

Delphine Manceau

Chapter 60 in Handbook of Top Management Teams, 2010, pp 513-518 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract This paper discusses speed, which top company executives so often make a priority in new product development projects. It shows that shortening the time to market and trying to be ‘first mover’ in the market require specific trade-offs to be taken into consideration, since such priorities have an appreciable impact on profitability, risk and performance.
