Setting a Pattern of Products, Markets and Bank Profitability

Dimitris N. Chorafas

Chapter 11 in The Commercial Banking Handbook, 1999, pp 267-289 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract ‘Strategic’ is the product on which our bank depends for its survival and for its future profitability. ‘Strategic’ as well is a pivot product through which other financial services have to transit. I always advise that a current account is opened for each customer, even if he only does export credit or only fund management with our bank. This makes the current account a strategic node in the network of services.
