Chapter VI in The New Operational Culture, 2009, pp 52-61 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract In the previous chapter, we met four characters with unique histories; histories that help to explain their methods of doing things and proceeding. We’d like to highlight those elements that made us stop and think, and that might help the reader to consider some critical themes relating to his or her company. To achieve this, we’re going to concentrate, in this chapter, on four questions: 1. What do our protagonists do, and what do the people in your company do? 2. How should your people be best prepared to solve problems? 3. How do you focus on your daily responsibilities; do you do, or do you get people to do? 4. What is a company’s common sense? We’ll tackle these one by one, commenting on the remarks made by our protagonists and highlighting those ideas that we think most relevant.
