Abstract:
Abstract With a population of 1.3 million people, New Hampshire was the tenth least populous state in the United States in 2006. From 2000 to 2006 the state’s population increased by 79,109 people, and is projected to increase to 1.6 million by 2025. This 1.0% projected annual growth rate compares to the projected national average of 0.8%. The state’s 2006 per capita personal income of $39,655 was higher compared to $37,480 in 2005 and seventh highest in the United States, some $3,026 above the national average. Per capita income in New Hampshire grew at an average annual rate of 2.9% from 2000 to 2006, compared to 3.5% nationally.
