Abstract: Abstract This chapter ’s focus is the institutional framework important for young women’s perspectives on work. It discusses governance and labour market institutions in the 14 countries and strategies and activities for empowering women, including women’s rights and labour rights. Labour relations and union organization, including women’s position in trade unions, are discussed. With communication and new media, including social media, of growing importance for empowering girls and young women, perspectives on Internet use by them and on their behalf — including the Internet freedom issue — as well as use of print media, TV, radio, mobile phones; mobile Internet and broadband are covered.
