Control Theory and the Design of Performance Metrics

Chris Harris

Chapter Chapter 26 in Hyperinnovation, 2002, pp 287-294 from Palgrave Macmillan

Abstract: Abstract We have all heard the sound of the screeching banshee over the public address system. Out flies a voice in the form of vibrating air, then at around 740 mph, impinges back on the microphone which the original voice struck. And so starts an amplifying feedback loop. More positive feedback builds more feedback to a pitch that breaks up beyond the range of human hearing.
