Multidimensional Leaders
Chris Harris
Chapter Chapter 8 in Hyperinnovation, 2002, pp 130-141 from Palgrave Macmillan
Abstract:
Abstract Leadership is not management. We know the role of management?…it is about planning and setting goals… it is about breaking those plans and goals into manageable pieces to hand down the line of command it is about appraising, measuring and informing… and it is about enabling people to carry out tasks in a timely, productive, cost-effective manner This is management at its very best: tight and uniform control (equilibrium and optimisation); and precisely why management is simply not enough for innovation… What we need more than ever before is leadership.
