Abstract: Motivation: An analysis of the economic activity concentration in a selected region of Poland, in relation to the reference area, is useful in the decision-making process regarding the enterprise location. It also allows to check the development perspectives of selected regions. Aim: The aim of the article was to analyse the concentration of the Polish Classification of Activities (PKD) sections in Central and South-West Region of Poland. Based on the number of newly registered business entities, the location quotient showing the spatial concentration of enterprises in these areas was calculated. Results: Based on the conducted analysis it was possible to identify PKD sections, which were most often chosen by entrepreneurs. It was also possible to indicate those sections that can be assigned to the most desirable class of location quotient, due to its high level and favourable dynamics. Those sections are the foundation of regional economy development in Central and South-West Region of Poland.
