Abstract:
This article examines the use of English loan words in German economic terminology. Anglicisms are very frequently used in German in the modern sphere of business. On the one hand, they contribute to a better understanding of terms used in the business and service sectors, but on the other hand, they cause misunderstanding and confuse German-speaking recipients due to their insufficient knowledge of English. A lot of linguists and politicians have criticized the overuse of Anglicisms, claiming that English has a bad effect on contemporary German. The future influence of English on Business German, as well as the adoption of English words by Business German, depends on the position held by the English-speaking countries in the world economy.
