Chenab Limited: Company in Decline

Muntazar Bashir

Asian Journal of Management Cases, 2020, vol. 17, issue 2, 188-210

Abstract: Chenab Limited (Chenab) was a very large vertically integrated textile company in Pakistan whose operations included the entire textile chain from cotton spinning to textile weaving and finished products such as garments. The company had enjoyed considerable success in the years 2000–2007, but the economic conditions deteriorated from 2008 until 2013 for the textile industry. It was faced with electricity and natural gas shortage as well as inflationary conditions in Pakistan; these issues, together with stiff foreign competition, had seriously affected the financial health of the company.
