A Reply to Rummel

Abstract: Dulić lists some of the most important points in Rummel’s critique. He argues that the objections are misplaced since he is quoting Rummel or using his data. Moreover, Rummel could have shown why he feels that Dulić is wrong by giving his own estimates to be compared with Dulić’s extrapolations. Most importantly, Dulić argues that Rummel has avoided the central point of his critique, namely, that of source criticism. Contrary to Rummel, Dulić argues that the case study on Tito’s Yugoslavia might well have wider implications, since it focuses on Rummel’s method. The methodological problems need to be addressed before Rummel’s data and conclusions can be considered reliable. Whether such a revision would yield significantly new results remains undecided.
