Review of Radical Political Economics, 2009, vol. 41, issue 1, 62-78

Abstract: This article describes the social and economic policies in the 2000s, the strategies chosen by the government to confront the economic crisis and the social programs which became part of the “Battle of Ideas.†It is argued that the economic and social aspects were pursued in an integrated fashion in Cuba without the traditional submission of the latter to the former, as it has been done in other Latin American countries.
