RABBIT-VENTURE

Cecile N. Gerwel and Shamim Bodhanya

Simulation & Gaming, 2012, vol. 43, issue 5, 686-707

Abstract: Change processes in organizations and specifically change involving multiple stakeholders can be challenging. Participants in the simulation are grouped and tasked with making a success of a project involving the building of simulated rabbit cages. Certain groups have complete power and control, particularly by way of possession of valuable resources, whereas the group tasked with producing the cages relies on communication from the other groups regarding the required strategy. Participants thus have to navigate through immense complexity, which arises from the existence of multiple stakeholders, each with their own mental models, values, goals, and perceptions. The simulation can be used for students in classes that focus on change management, project management, strategic management, and even general management, as the scenarios are characterized by turbulence, which sets the scene for a rich debriefing regarding these critical areas. The simulation can also be of benefit to employees and managers undergoing such processes.
