Abstract: In article the main approaches to definition and an assessment of production capacity of the enterprises on the basis of what such components of potential as are allocated are investigated: production, material, personnel, technological and information. Expediency of definition of level of production capacity of the enterprises of railway transport by AVS technique is proved. The main indicators which most fully characterize compound elements of potential are offered and allow to estimate it level.
