Abstract: Knowledge, as the main source of competitive advantage in today’s knowledge-based society, is often a fuzzy concept, with no direct referent in the real world. In order to conceptualize it people use the metaphor of knowledge assets, assets that can be managed, evaluated, invested in, and that became the main source of value creation within the organization. The paper’s main purpose is to present an overview of the perspectives on knowledge assets for a better identification of what they comprise and stand for, and addresses the management challenges of managing these assets by presenting some strategies that can be applied in project environments.
