Chapter Chapter 2 in Regional Competitiveness Towards Climate Change, 2024, pp 7-47 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter addresses theoretical approaches to EU climate policy and climate change competitiveness. In particular, it describes the global and European determinants and conditions, assumptions and objectives of EU climate policy. Furthermore, it overviews the most popular research models used to diagnose and assess regional competitiveness. Finally, the chapter presents existing approaches to measuring competitiveness related to climate change. This systematic review of concepts and policies aims to establish a theoretical background for empirical research.
