Abstract: Abstract The Shaping Danes Future project developed several web-based tools to support citizen-driven land use planning in a community near Madison, Wisconsin. Tools and resources included a step-by-step procedure for plan development, resource and infrastructure maps including land use-related spatial analyses, interactive mapping (WebGIS), a planning portal for additional planning-related data and information, tools for land use allocation and impact assessment, and an electronic opinion polling tool. The web-based tools and resources were developed within the context of a broader citizen-based planning process facilitated by additional information technologies.
