Chapter 9 in Planning Support Systems in Practice, 2003, pp 155-175 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter explains the characteristics of Flowmap, a planning support system instrument dedicated to performing network analysis. Initially, discussion focuses on the history, primary purpose, development, capabilities and users of the Flowmap software. Special attention is given to the current and potential functionality of the system. Thereafter, three very different case studies are presented that illustrate how the capabilities of Flowmap have been used to solve real world planning problems. Some final remarks are made about the experience of using this planning support tool and about intentions for further development.
