Abstract: Abstract This paper addresses the question as to what are likely to be the spatial economic impacts of a developing and extending Euroland. This is considered both in terms of its actual direct effects; is it likely to increase economic activity in some regions relative to others? Even if one accepts that there will be a net gain in economic activity overall there may be —and the evidence of this paper suggests there will be— areas of the EU which gain relative to others. As well as such direct effects, however, there will be indirect effects.
