Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces the themes of CSR and sustainability by providing an overview and definition of these concepts, examining stakeholder theory and identifying the key promoters of sustainability in the business world. This chapter also discusses the diffusion of ESG metrics and the ways in which companies can combine purpose and profit, highlighting the emergence of B Corps and benefit corporations as innovative business models for the integration of sustainability into business practices.
