Abstract:
Abstract We focus on conditions that are checked to identify degenerate stationary points. We study the consequences of having such criteria satisfied not exactly, but just approximately, as is inevitably the case when dealing with numerical approaches. We find out that the occurrence of the aforementioned conditions up to some tolerance is linked to the approximate violation of the extended Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification.
